Craniofacial Pain & Sleep Evaluation · Cleveland, OH

Jaw Pain, Headaches or Poor Sleep No One Has Explained?

Pain in the jaw, face and head rarely travels alone. It often shows up alongside snoring, restless nights or waking up exhausted. Our evaluation looks at your jaw joints, the muscles around them and your airway together, so any plan we recommend is built on what we actually find.

One Evaluation, Two Connected Concerns

Pain in the head, face and jaw frequently travels with disrupted breathing during sleep. Instead of treating them as separate problems, we assess both from your very first visit.

Craniofacial Pain & TMD

Jaw joint and muscle pain, recurring headaches, facial and ear pain, clicking, locking and difficulty opening wide.

Sleep & Airway

Snoring, disrupted breathing during sleep and daytime fatigue, with sleep testing coordinated through a physician when it’s needed.

Signs Worth a Closer Look

No single item on this list means you have a jaw joint disorder. Several together, especially alongside poor sleep, are a good reason to have things checked.

  • An aching jaw when you chew, talk or yawn
  • Clicking, popping or grating from the jaw joint
  • A jaw that catches, locks or won’t open fully
  • Headaches that keep returning, often on waking
  • Ear pain, fullness or ringing with no ear infection
  • Tight, sore muscles in the face, neck or shoulders
  • Clenching or grinding, during the day or at night
  • Snoring that others notice
  • Waking tired after a full night in bed
  • Gasping, choking or pauses in breathing during sleep
  • A dry mouth in the morning or breathing through the mouth
  • Daytime sleepiness or trouble concentrating

Clenching and grinding are rarely the whole story. They can be the body’s response to a narrowed airway, to ongoing pain or to stress, which is why we look for what is driving them instead of only protecting the teeth.

Why We Look at the Whole Picture

Headaches, jaw pain, clenching and poor sleep overlap far more often than most people are told. Treating one symptom on its own can leave whatever is driving it untouched.

Your evaluation brings those threads together: your health history and symptoms, how your jaw joints and muscles move and feel, and how you breathe, including while you sleep.

That way your recommendations come from your own findings, not from a single symptom or a one-size-fits-all device.

From Your First Call to a Clear Plan

1

Reach Out

Call, text or send the form. We’ll ask a few questions about what you’re experiencing and find a visit time that suits you.

2

Your Evaluation

Dr. Wolf reviews your history, examines the jaw joints and surrounding muscles, and looks at your airway. If a sleep study is warranted, we help you arrange it with a physician.

3

Your Plan

You’ll leave knowing what we found, which conservative, reversible options make sense for you, and when another specialist should be part of your care.

Answers First, Treatment Second

Recommendations follow the evaluation, never the other way around. When treatment is appropriate, we begin with conservative, non-surgical options and adjust as you respond.

Questions Before Your First Visit

You can contact us directly, and many patients do. Physicians and dentists who would like to send a patient can also use our Doctor Referral page.

Coverage depends on your plan and on the diagnosis made at your evaluation, so it can’t be confirmed ahead of time. Our team is glad to talk through your benefits and payment options with you, including financing through Cherry.

Because the two are closely linked. Clenching and grinding during sleep can be tied to how well you breathe at night, so leaving the airway out of the evaluation can mean missing part of what is driving your pain.

The evaluation is non-invasive. We’ll ask you to open, close and move your jaw, and we gently check the muscles of the head and neck, so you may notice some tenderness in areas that are already sore.

It depends on what we find. Many patients start with an initial phase of care, commonly around 8 to 12 weeks, before we reassess together and decide on next steps.

A list of your current medications, any recent imaging or sleep study results, and notes on when your symptoms began and what seems to make them better or worse.

Find Out What’s Behind Your Symptoms

Whether it’s jaw pain, recurring headaches, clenching or restless sleep, a thorough evaluation is where real answers begin.
